Is your company in need of an IT Architectural Survey?

Many companies over the last 5-10 years have grown through mergers and acquisitions.  Others have been tightening the belt and putting off new infrastructure purchases until the economy improves.  Both strategies can lead to interesting problems for IT Managers.  In the first case there is usually now a heterogenious Server environment, multiple server platforms, OS platforms and versions, network incompatabilities, etc.  In the second case you end up seeing outdated hardware and software, sometimes past the End of Support dates, running mission critical applications.  In SMB firms like to get the most bang for their buck and that is understandable.  But arguements can be made that if your firm does not have a CURRENT five year IT Architecture plan than odds are that one day in the not too distant future you may look up to find out that one of your systems has failed or the vendor is removing support for it and you now have a CRITICAL project on your hands that needs to be addressed in a very timely manner.  Zombie Data believes in partnering with our client firms, providing guidance and assisting in assessing their current IT Architecture (call it a Current State Model), identifying initial weaknesses and strengthes and formulating a Future State Model for the company.  From here we work with our clients to prioritize and create that 5 year IT Architecture plan and identify next steps projects for the next two years as well as a checkpoint when we will come in and assess work performed to date, any changes in the company's position, in the IT industry in general, etc. and reset a new 5 year direction or plan of attack.  Helping a client build out a plan today is a good thing...working with the client along the way to insure they get the most value for their IT investment is a GREAT thing.
